This kind of goes into the WTF category. Check this: A shelf for your turntable suspended on freakin’ magnets so that vibrations don’t filter through and mess up your perfect audio from your vinyls. At a low price of $500.
Honestly I haven’t seen a lot of old skool technics lately at the clubs in Hollywood, and given that the trend is towards live mashing up and using the latest equipment and laptops, I don’t see how this is practically relevant today. I mean, if the guy has $500 to spend, then he probably wouldn’t be bringing this expensive decide to the house party in the boonies with a plastic table that is also used for beer pong.
Let’s call it what it is– a bait/trap/lure for OCD audiophiles to show off.
“Zero Gravity” shelf cushions your turntable with magnetic forces.
Audio-Technica introduced yet another LP to Digital USB system today. It’s not exactly a new concept, with even Thinkgeek.com having offered one for years. Not sure who would need it these days, as all the songs that needed to be converted were converted a long time ago.

Met the guy at Monster Massive, we hit it off and got to talking, anyhow, listened to some of his track selections and they are simply rocking. Continue reading to download his awesome mix. From his profile: “Since 2000 DJ TryXX has been a deciated and loyal slave to the beats of U.K. D & B, and Jungle. Coming straight out of Southern California, representing the hottest body rocking beats, rolling bass lines, and the underground tunes that everybody loves to hear, DJ TryXX began mixing D & B at the age of fifteen and soon found his ability to demonstrate his talent. In 2002 things picked up as Dj TryXX began playing underground shows in Southern California and parts of Mexico. His distinctive style of selective tracks combined with smooth transitions and double impact mixing has earned him a spot amongst Southern California’s respected DJ’s. Watch the fuck out. Ballerstatus.net has a feature story on the hip-hop master DJ Spooky. An interesting piece that documents his official “nerd” status as an author of science fiction to history of hip-hop books, this college educated producer has a wide variety of tastes randing from the before-mentioned science fiction (William S. Burroughs!), to French literature and philosophy. His works has appeared in publications such as The Source, Rap Pages, and The Village Voice.

All digital mixing systems, written about before here on ravedigital, here is another article about this system from the crazy guys at Musicthing. Apparently however, this is a full fledged solution in one, instead of just the hard drive based turn table, this system looks sleek, but it doesn’t quite give you the same feeling as the red spinning dots on a pair of 1200 Technics, now does it?

According to theDJList.com, Paul Van Dyk is ranked number 2 in its list of DJ’s around the world, and I certainly have to agree. A diamond in the rough, Paul Van Dyk both produces trance (being one of the pioneers) and spins it for the benefit of the crowds. A little known fact is that PVD grew up in communist Germany, and when the wall came down, was fortuitously in position to rocket to popularity with a number of classic songs. A consumate professional, he has always prepared well for each and all of the raves I’ve listened to him at.
